Welfare + Safeguarding

We encourage children to gain the skills to enable them to be independent and look after themselves, including taking themselves to the toilet and changing clothes for different activities. Children pour their own drink (milk or water) and help to prepare their own snack. Supervision, support and guidance is provided until they reach independence. We provide a healthy snack during the morning sessions, typically brown bread and fresh or dried fruit. Milk and water are provided during the afternoon session. Parents are asked if they can bring a piece of fruit into pre-school once a week to share.  Parents to advise of any allergies.

We have a duty under law to help safeguard children against suspected or actual ‘significant harm’, and our employment practices ensure children against the likelihood of abuse during our care, and we have a procedure for managing complaints or allegations against a member of staff. We can offer support, including referral to appropriate agencies when necessary, to help families in difficulty.
